Silhouettes, Anyone?

Admin, Regency Society of Virginia | Published on 10/1/2020

Silhouettes were a popular and affordable means of preserving an image of a loved one before the dawn of photography.  And the Regency Society of Virginia is excited to present an opportunity to not only learn more about this amazing art form but to give its members and friends a chance to have their own  Regency-style silhouette profile cut!

Our online event on Saturday, November 14, will begin with a history of silhouettes during the early 19th century provided by well-known silhouette artist and living historian, Lauren Muney.  Following her presentation, renown silhouette artist Charles Burns will be on-hand to cut "likenesses" for those participants who sign up in advance to have their profiles cut.

This event is open to both RSV members and non-members, with registration open for members only through October 15 (registration for everyone closes November 13).  Pricing for the presentation is FREE for RSV members and just $7.00 for non-members. (Want to learn more about joining?  Click here!)  For those participants who would like to have their silhouettes cut (in your choice of modern or period attire), there is an additional fee of $25/half-length silhouette or $45/full-length silhouette, plus $10 shipping and handling.  Those wishing to have a silhouette cut MUST register in order to get the information to schedule their silhouette.  Space is limited so be sure to register soon!

We hope that you will join us for this unique and fun event!
